Tips for Buying Rural Properties
Acquiring rural property requires investigating issues that normally don't need to be considered when purchasing properties in an urban setting.  Condition and construction of well and septic systems must be examined thoroughly in order to assure yourself that you won't have to deal with costly problems in the future. Properly designed; these systems will last for years with a minimal amount of regular maintenance.

The rural lifestyle may not be for everyone.  Those who choose this lifestyle they will find that rural residents have a unique sense of community; even if your neighbour is kilometers away. This small town attitude is what draws many city dwellers and retirees to the country.
Purchasing outside of the confines of the city suggests a sense of freedom to do with your land anything you choose.  This is generally not the case. There are usually as many, or more, municipal by-laws in place that will restrict what you may, or may not do with your property.  Make sure that you thoroughly research and reassure yourself that what you plan to do with your future dream property in the country is allowed by the local municipal government.  If you plan to do any building there are many layers of regulatory bodies that may need to be
consulted.  Local Conservation Authorities, the Niagara Escarpment Commission, rate payers groups are only a few of the additional things that need to be considered.
In general if rural living is what you what, with careful consideration it can be a satisfying and enjoyable lifestyle choice.
